AntiAngiogenesis

Overview
One approach to cancer therapy in development at Pfizer Oncology involves the inhibition of angiogenesis, the formation of new vasculature that enables solid tumors to grow, proliferate, and metastasize. Pfizer is developing small molecules that target receptor tyrosine kinases (RTKs), such as VEGFR-1, -2, -3, PDGFR-α and -ß, KIT, FLT3, and RET, which aim to inhibit tumor growth both indirectly, by inhibiting

angiogenesis, and directly, by blocking the activation of these receptors on tumor cells.

Pfizer Oncology is dedicated to the development of a diverse array of therapeutic agents that target the molecules and cellular processes that are implicated in the growth of many types of cancer.
